I think The Sibyl has the potential to be a better story than it is currently, especially since it is the first book of a series that is already five books long. While I enjoyed it, it is in serious need of an editor, and I'm not talking about simple proofreading. While I can forgive, up to a certain point, spelling and grammatical errors, I had difficulty letting go of the stilted and often cliched dialogue as well as the stock 2D characters.Again, overall, I enjoyed The Sibyl. Sometimes I wasn't sure if I liked or disliked its cheese factor (for example, one of the characters has a cellphone app to talk to a Greek god). However, I ultimately decided that, given some of the pieces of brain candy I happen to love, I could take this story for what it is.
With that being said, I probably shouldn't have read this during the Winter. The Sibyl is more of a beach or Summer read, and I likely would have enjoyed it more during that time of year when I don't want to think too much or take anything seriously. It's also an excellent choice for reading while on the elliptical or stationary bike.

I have thoroughly enjoyed The Sibyl. Right off the bat I loved the relationship between Eli and Eva. Their antics had me laughing out loud. At the end of chapter 4, my mouth fell open. I did not see that coming! Can you say creepy!?! This story is full I surprises. I loved it!
This book had solid characters an excellent theme that was well researched. Great sense of foreshadowing in the book. It was amazing, the only problem was it was indeed the beginning of a series and was a little short. I for one will be reading this entire series because I am hooked. Great job by the author, excellent book
I really enjoyed reading this book . Aside from some errors here and there all up it was a good beginning for the Oracle series . I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys book's in the paranormal genra.
I read this book for our book club and it was a great read. Eva was talked into doing a Paranormal show with her friend Elliott, she didn't believe in ghosts or the paranormal so her plan was to debunk it, when they met with the studio and were asked to go to a Paranormal Convention in New York to study up a bit on what they will be doing, something happened that changed Eva's life.....forever.....now the things she didn't believe in were real...this book will take you on a roller coaster ride.
The book begins with the characters Eva and Eli and it firmly develops their characters as the hot friend/boy next door and a nonbeliever in all things paranormal. I took to their characters right away and delved right into the book.The story throws Eva right smack into all things paranormal and she is forced into a Sibyl position that is controlled by a Greek God with a mysterious new protector named Cyrus thrown into the mix. With the support of her best friend Eli and her new protector/mentor Cyrus Eva slowly begins to change her tune from skeptic to believer.
I loved this book and can't wait to dive into the second book.
Eva didn't believe in ghosts. She just wanted to do Elliott a favor. But in return, she got way more than she bargained for! After agreeing to star in a documentary about haunted places, Eva's world changed forever when she went to Paracon to do research. She was given a talent she didn't want, didn't need, didn't understand. With this gift came Cyrus, a bodyguard of sorts, who tries to keep Eva safe.
This book is the first I've read from Cynthia D Witherspoon, and I'm definitely a fan! I couldn't put this book down, and cannot wait to start the second book in this series.
So, let me just start by saying I am totally hooked on this series! I picked up my kindle last night to finish this book and found myself halfway through the next book before I realized it was the middle of the night! It's that good! It hooks you immediately and doesn't let go!
The writing style is fast paced and easy to follow. The main character Eva is a normal everyday person thrust into the paranormal world due to an event outside of her control. From there the adventure really takes off! I especially love the way the author brings you into her world. The plot is exciting, the characters are multidimensional, likable and easy to identify with. You will be so engaged in the story you will literally get goose bumps , gasp and possibly jump during certain scenes! The story wraps Greek mythology around the paranormal world which makes it even more interesting! The author has definitely taken her time to research her Greek mythology and keeps it exciting and engaging
Though this author was totally new to me, I am so looking forward to following Eva and her friends on the rest of their adventures that I have already purchased every book in the entire series! I am that impressed with her work! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys the paranormal, Greek mythology or just a fun slightly scary adventure! This book has it all ! This is 5 stars all the way from me! I can't wait to see what happens next!
